From either side of the city walls, you’re sure to find somewhere that’s got something you want to buy. Fashionistas in particular are well catered for here, as there are a handful of boutiques where you can pick up an outfit that will serve you well on your next night out. Here, we profile a few that are worth visiting.
Morgan – 15 Watergate Street, CH1 2LB
Part of a small chain, this womenswear store has just released its summer 2016 collection, featuring light and comfortable footwear and flowing dresses. For casual summerwear or unique tunics, Morgan has you covered.
If you’re into your shoes, look out for those designed by Fiorentini + Baker. They seamlessly blend Italian style with British craft, creating shoes that are comfortable and complementary with just about any outfit.
The Hat Place – 70-72 Northgate Street, CH1 2HT
Chester’s only specialist hat shop, if you want a fancy piece of headwear for a day at Chester Racecourse or to finish off your summer outfit, this is the place to be. Bowler hats, trilbies, fedoras and even wedding hats are on sale.
The Hat Place even has its own wedding and races line of hats, in case you’re unsure of what to wear for the big day. Be sure to try them on before buying, no matter how tempting they look!
Mococo – 10-12 Foregate Street, CH1 1HA
Another independent store worth visiting for putting the finishing touches to your look, Mococo sell all kinds of unique and exotic jewellery. From baggy bracelets and elegant pendants all the way to chakras and watches, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Each item in store is from a exclusive designer brand. ChloBo, Pandora and Daisy are all present there, while if you’re after a souvenir for a friend back home, they offer a free gift wrapping service for any item you buy.
Nichols & Co – 5 Bridge Street Row, CH1 1NW
Although they’re currently updating their fashion range as spring gives way to summer, this fashion store has affordable clothes for all seasons. Upstairs is where you’ll find all the fashion items from designers such as Thanny, Oska, Sahara and Toma.
Aside from clothes, you’ll also find jewellery, vintage furniture and accessories on the ground floor, so you can be forgiven if you come away with more than you bargained for. The Nichols & Co candles are worth a second look if you want a little souvenir of your trip to Chester.
