Whilst Leeds doesn’t have anything akin to Manchester’s Canal Street, if you head down Lower Briggate you’ll find the large majority of Leeds LGBT bars dotted amongst an assortment of mainstream bars, restaurants and sex shops. From camp as Christmas to more subtle and sophisticated, there’s plenty of choice; here’s our pick of the best LGBT hangouts.
Considered a hidden gem of the Leeds gay scene, Blayd’s doors are open seven days a week with some of the best acts you’ll see. The perfect balance between bar and club, Fibre is hands down one of the best places to party in Leeds. With a nice mixture of young, old, gay, straight or whatever, anyone with an open mind is welcome here. With a swanky VIP lounge upstairs in the shape of Penthouse and its legendary Courtyard Parties (which run on Bank Holiday Sundays), Fibre isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.
Sharing the courtyard with Fibre, Queen’s Court couldn’t be any more different from Fibre, however they also work well together as neighbours. Pumping out the likes of Kylie and Britney, this place is altogether camper affair, with some fantastically cheap drinks offers. Happy hour runs each night here, making it popular with those that want to enjoy a drink after work.
If six-foot frag queen’s belting out impressive renditions of Whitney and Mariah is your cup of tea, then Viaduct has got a seat with your name written all over it. Leeds oldest gay pub, The Bridge is another joint that’s stood the test of time and is busy each and every day of the week.
