Top bars for a girls’ night out in Newcastle Categories Length 3 min read Author Roomzzz 18 Aug '16 Share Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share via email It’s one of the party capitals of the UK and, from the Quayside to Grey Street and everywhere in between, you’ll find a bar pretty much anywhere. If you’re planning a girls’ night out in Newcastle, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to picking somewhere to spend a few hours in each other’s company. Some bars are better suited to a leisurely pint than they are to, say, a drinking game or a longer session, while there are a few which, while brilliant, tend to cater to older people who prefer their bitter to their margaritas. With that in mind, we’ve picked a few bars that are well suited to an amazing girls’ night out in Newcastle. Madame Koo Although it’s only open on Fridays and Saturdays, this nightclub is one of the most welcoming and fun places to drink here. Cocktails are a speciality at Madame Koo, with The Original, combining Mercier Brut bubbly with peach creating something that will really get you going long into the night. Elsewhere on the drinks menu, look out for their long list of mojitos, made with different fruits including black raspberries, blueberries and pineapples. Frozen daiquiris and margaritas are also worth a try, all without being massively expensive. Find Madame Koo on the map The Vineyard A small, perfectly formed wine bar on historic Grey Street, The Vineyard’s latino influences shine through in both its drinks menu and decor. The most popular drink on the menu is the Strawberry Margarita, a chilled delight that will hit the spot when it gets full on an evening. No matter what night it is, what helps to make The Vineyard so popular is that it’s always free to get in. Space aside, there’s little compromise to compensate for free entry, which is always a bonus. Find the Vineyard on the map Livello A favourite bar of none other than Cheryl Fernandez-Versini (formerly Cheryl Cole), Livello is a swanky bar where only the finest cocktails are served. Classics including the Manhattan and White Russian sit alongside Strawberry Smash, Call Me Maybe and its own twist on the Bloody Mary – the wine-infused Bloody Awesome! The venue is lined with plush leather seats, cozy booths and mirrors galore, not to mention lights that lend an ambient air to even the liveliest of nights on the dancefloor. You do need to book a booth in advance to get somewhere to sit though. Find Livello on the map Alvinos A bar with a real retro feel, Alvinos has all sorts to keep you entertained. Asides from a menu brimming with craft ale, gins and cocktails, there’s also table football, pinball, snacks and, on weekends, DJ sets that will get you in the mood for dancing. The drinks menu is one of the longest of any bar in Newcastle, containing six of each for gins, vodkas, liqueurs and wines, tequilas, rums and whiskeys. Each drink has a funny name, including the Thai Hard, which is made with Stolichnaya vodka, lime juice, orgeat syrup and angostura bitters for a taste sensation.
