Where to eat on your next visit to Edinburgh Categories City guides Length 3 min read Author Roomzzz 16 Feb '23 Share Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share via email Trying new food spots is one of the best parts of a city break, and when you’re in a place like Edinburgh, you’re spoilt for choice. Whether you’re in the mood for a laid-back lunch, a sweet treat, or something a bit different for dinner – this city has it all.If you’re staying with us at Roomzzz Edinburgh, right in St James Quarter, you’re right in the middle of it. So, here are a few places we’ve tried (and loved) – and think you will too! Bonnie & Wild – A Bit of EverythingWhere: St James QuarterBonnie & Wild is like a foodie’s dream under one roof. It’s a big open space with loads of different food stalls – think street food meets Scottish deli. You can grab a bao bun, some fresh seafood, or even a slice of pizza – whatever you’re in the mood for. It’s great if you’re in a group and can’t decide what to eat because there’s something for everyone.Top tip: the haggis neeps & tatties from one of the stalls is unreal – proper comfort food. And don’t forget to swing by the bottle shop on your way out for a little local tipple. Duck & Waffle – Views + VibesWhere: St James QuarterThis one’s perfect if you fancy somewhere with a bit of atmosphere. Duck & Waffle is up high so you get amazing views of the city, and it’s open all day – breakfast, brunch, dinner, the lot.The menu’s packed with flavour – think crispy duck on a waffle with a fried egg and syrup (sounds weird, tastes amazing). It’s not stuffy or overly fancy, just really tasty food in a cool setting. Great for date night or if you’re celebrating something. Street Burger – Gordon Ramsay’s Laid-Back SpotWhere: St James QuarterIf you want a solid burger and zero faff, Street Burger is a good shout. The menu’s straight to the point – juicy burgers, loaded fries, thick shakes – you get the picture. It’s everything you’d expect from a Gordon Ramsay place, but in a chill, easy-going vibe. The bacon cheeseburger is a personal fave, and the sweet potato fries are next level. You can easily roll in after a bit of shopping or before heading out for the evening. Casual, quick, and hits the spot. The Alchemist – Something a Bit DifferentWhere: St James QuarterThis one’s more of a vibe than just a meal – especially if you’re into cool cocktails. The Alchemist is all about theatre with your food and drink. Expect smoke, colour-changing drinks, and fun stuff like that. The menu’s pretty varied – you’ll find things like katsu curry, bao buns, and loaded fries. It’s great for groups, and if you’re a Perkzzz Rewards member, you’ll get a little extra treat here too (make sure to check your Perkzzz account). Definitely one to try if you want something a bit quirky and fun.
