Did you know the Chinese New Year is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in the world? At Roomzzz we have two amazing Chinatown Districts in close proximity to our Manchester and Newcastle Aparthotels.

We have generated a few ways in which you could bring in the year of the Rabbit;

Dragon Parade
Manchester City Centre

Let the fun commence this New Year by following the enthralling 175ft Dragon Parade from Manchester Central, making its way through the bustling streets to Chinatown. Take in the wonderful performances across the route including traditional ribbon dancers, Opera performers and watch as the Zodiac Animals dance by. Along the streets you can pick up some great souvenirs from the themed street stalls or you can watch as the little ones enjoy the thrill of the funfair! It will be entertainment for all the family, topped off with the glorious Illuminated Night Dragon Performance.

Xiong Qi
Faulkner Street, Manchester

Right in the heart of Chinatown, you will find this award winning restaurant – famous for its traditional Chinese authentic ‘Hot Pot’. This is the perfect dish to really warm the heart, especially at this time of year! If hotpotting is a new concept to you, here at Xiong Qi you will have the perfect introduction. Make it your own by choosing your broth and choice of meat, fish or vegetables and watch as it cooks away at the comfort of your table!

Newcastle’s Chinese New Year celebrations
Stowell Street, Newcastle

Making its return for the first time since 2020, the celebrations in Newcastle’s Chinatown district will provide some real cheer this January. You can guarantee to be lit up with luminous colours, joyful song and dancing around every corner. The Famous Dragon and Lion performers will be prancing through the streets in a vibrant celebration of history and passion there is no doubt.

King Neptune
Stowell Street

A great way to celebrate the Chinese New Year is through the beautiful food at King Neptune, this is currently the longest running Chinese restaurant in the city and there’s no surprise as to why, thanks to authentic, quality dishes served up in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. With its Maritime name, seafood forms a key part of the menu and you can expect some of the finest fresh food from Dover Sole to Northumbrian Crab.  You can ensure that you won’t be disappointed.

After all the celebrating you deserve to fall back into one of our beautiful aparthotels, all within walking distance – so why not book your Roomzzz stay here!
