Bringing together brands from global to local, St James Quarters has everything that you can think of. The Quarter is bustling with high-end brands from H&M to Zara, Other Stories to Kurt Geiger and so much more! Feel free to check out the St James Quarter website for more information! We recommend a hearty brunch to kick start your adventure in the city at Bonnie & Wild, right here in the centre.

HEAD OUTDOORS TO THE ROYAL BOTANIC GARDEN EDINBURGH

The divine meal you just had is probably dancing around in your belly, so why not go on a walk to digest? The Royal Botanical Gardens is only a stroll away! Its history stretches all the way back to 1670, when doctors Robert Sibbald and Andrew Balfour leased a small plot of land in Holyrood Park and set about creating Edinburgh’s first ‘physic garden’. The garden is wonderfully calming and being surrounded by lush greenery, you’ll feel the stress melting away slowly; the proper way to spend your time away from home. You can spend hours wandering around, breathing in the deep, herby scent of foliage and damp earth, and marvelling at the incredible diversity of the natural world. This spot is your escape from the hustle and bustle going around you and in your mind.

TAKE A TRIP TO THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF SCOTLAND

Once you have snapped a quick selfie with the amazing National Museum as your backdrop, it’s time that you head straight to the journey of discovery through the history of Scotland, the wonders of nature, art and design, science and technology, and world cultures – all under one roof! Whether you have curious little ones or are travelling with friends or are on a solo trip, there’s plenty of stuff to keep you busy. For your little ones, why not try picking your fav trail and get onto a mission of catching The Giant Benandonner, or you might even join baby King Penguin to get ready for a winter celebration. From visiting the Grand Gallery, to travelling back into time through history, close encounters with creatures from different habitats in Animal World, to striking a pose in the fashion and art gallery. There’s so much to do that we are sure you’ll find something to enjoy. Just letting you know in advance: you might have trouble getting your kids (and you) to leave!

DINE-IN AT THE SPOOKIESTTHE WITCHERY BY THE CASTLE

A short walk away is the 16th century spooky building wherein a moody, magical, and Gothic place lies; The Witchery right by the castle. Not only is this place dwelled in a deep, dark history of James VI’s witch trials, but it’s also famous for attracting tourists, locals and celebrities who see this as their regular haunt whilst in the heart of the capital. You’ll immediately gel with the ghostly and gothic vibe when you step in. Candleholders with crow’s feet, bouquets of blood-red roses, and napkins tied with a crimson ribbon awaits your deadly presence.

Not only the restaurant hits you with a wow factor but the richness of food will leave you spell-bound. Scottish produce is unsurprisingly at the fore, and while the steak tartare is largely punted as a must-try signature dish, it’s hard to beat the Isle of Mull scallops, or the rich and plentiful lamb wellington for two. The wine list, boasting 800 suggestions will be a perfect start to the evening.

CATCH A SHOW AT THE STAND COMEDY CLUB

The boutique city is anything but sleepy when the sun goes down. And if you’re up for a laugh you’re in for a treat at The Stand Up Comedy Club. You’ll get a real ab workout with the constant chuckles, guffaws and giggles handed to you. The club presents theatre quality stand-up comedy performances in an intimate cabaret style atmosphere. Not only this, you can drink and eat during performances and there are two short intervals for chatting. There’s something for everyone, so check out what’s on and book for a great night out!
