Festival season is here! The UK is well known for hosting a variety of music festivals and events throughout the year. Glastonbury, Creamfields, and Bestival are legendary around the world but there are hundreds of festivals on in the UK, some of which may be more suited to your style. Here are some of the best festivals in the UK this year so take your pick because they’re all going to be great!

Bestival

Date and Location: 2-5th August 2018 at Lulworth Castle

Headliners: M.I.A., London Grammar, Silk City, Grace Jones

Based on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, you really couldn’t ask for a more scenic location for a music festival. Bestival, labelled the most colourful show on earth, runs for 4 days in wooded countryside and features an eclectic variety of music which this year includes the likes of Mura Masa, Jorja Smith, Sundara Karma and We Are Scientists. With bands as good as that, we think Rob and Josie da Bank, founders of Bestival, have achieved their vision of creating a place that’s unique and inspires adventure and love all year round.

Latitude Festival

Date and Location: 12-15th July 2018 at Southwold

Headliners: The Killers, Solange, alt-J

One of the most popular festivals with families, Latitude is a great festival to come to if you have little ones. There are specific areas for families including a kids area with creative crafting, theatre, and outdoor performance and there’s a teen area too which has a cinema and a treetop adventure course. Even if you don’t have kids, Latitude is a great festival if you’re looking for a creative festival with live music, theatre, poetry, workshops, and comedy. You can also enjoy swimming in Latitude’s lake, or relax in the SOLAS Retreat.

Creamfields

Date and Location: 23-26th August at Daresbury

Headliners: Carl Cox, Eric Prydz, Tiesto, Armin van Buuren

Creamfields regularly wins awards for being the best Dance Festival and is there any wonder why? Year after year, Creamfields brings the best of the best DJs and dance acts from around the world to play in Liverpool. Huge names such as Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Sigala, Hardwell, Diplo and Fat Boy Slim are gracing the stages this year so what are you waiting for? Book those tickets and get ready for a 3-day dance festival that will keep you going from dusk until dawn.

Boardmasters

Date and Location: 8-12th August 2018 at Newquay

Headliners: Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Chemical Brothers, George Ezra

Probably one of the coolest festivals around, Boardmasters is based on Fistral Beach in Newquay. Go to sleep after listening to cool music and wake up to the sound of the ocean at the festival that aims to bring together like-minded people. With freedom, adventure, and creativity at its heart, Boardmasters combines surfing culture with music in a way that you won’t find anywhere else. As well as the music, there’s a whole focus on wellbeing at Boardmasters with massages, yoga classes on the beach, and even a natural eco-spa called Kernow Springs. You can also shop local at Fistral surf village or at the variety of stalls that are based at the two festival sites of Watergate Bay and Fistral. All of this combined with the great music on offer makes for a fun festival that perfectly mixes fun with relaxation.

Lovebox

Date and Location: 13-14th July 2018 in London

Headliners: Childish Gambino, N.E.R.D., Skepta, SZA

Get your groove on at Lovebox, a festival that was created by Groove Armada who created Lovebox because there was a gap for great parties in London. Lovebox grew into a festival that fills this gap perfectly and even better, the party is spread over two days in Victoria Park in London. This year features music from N.E.R.D. and Childish Gambino with the Smirnoff House, Hip Hop Karaoke and a disco golf challenge which adds to the party vibe.

Reading and Leeds Festival

Date and Location: 24 – 26th August in Reading and Leeds

Headliners: Kendrick Lamar, Kings Of Leon, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco

Reading and Leeds Festival is a main feature of the UK festival calendar. Making August Bank Holiday the best weekend of the year for many, this is 3 days of incredible music and most likely an event you’ll want to come back to year after year. Originally a rock festival, over the past few years, Reading and Leeds has expanded its musical genres to include indie, house, drum and bass, and techno.

Wilderness Festival

Date and Location: 2-5th August in Oxfordshire

Headliners: Chic & Nile Rodgers, Bastille, Jon Hopkins

Wilderness is a festival for the creatives. The ones that want to enjoy nature, want to enrich their lives and those that have an ambitious mind. If that sounds like you then Wilderness might be right up your street. Feast on a delicious meal from Café Murano, Petersham Nurseries, or Homeslice in the setting of a grassy field. Try your hand at screen-printing in The Art Studio. Relax with a massage in The Sanctuary. With everything that happens at Wilderness, you’d be forgiven for not thinking about the music on offer but you can’t miss out on acts such as Bastille, Justice and Groove Armada.
