Close to Wales, Chester is one of the finest heritage cities with a number of historical buildings and Roman walls, adding to the unique beauty found here. Spending some quality time with your girls is essential and there is no better place than Chester, combining the best of both worlds – an eventful or relaxing weekend. It is well known for its unique array of experiences or the perfect opportunity to shut off from the world and unwind.

Sightseeing

For those who hate walking – take an open tour bus to sightsee the beautiful cathedral, natural beauty and historical buildings. Those that love fresh air and wildlife can take a cruise on the idyllic river Dee in either the morning or evening, with a lovely bar available to stock up on drink! There are also private hires if there is a big group or themed boat trips such as Mamma Mia and the fish & chip cruise for food lovers.

Animal lovers

Chester has the UK’s number one zoo – apparently with over 20,000 animals! Definitely, a cute moment not to be missed out on with the girls, with plenty of photo opportunities and selfies could be taken with the playful animals, however, as a rule, they don’t tend to let you take the animals home, but you could adopt one!

Feeling lucky?

Try the Chester races, where style and excitement can be found and maybe even some winnings, remember drinks are paid for by whoever wins.

Shop until you drop

Definitely needs to be done in Chester, especially for girl time. There are several shopping centres and markets to explore, at least 60 shops can be found in Grosvenor Shopping Centre alone.

However, if the weather isn’t too nice, there are the rows, providing shelter and access to shops on the next level. In the rows, you can also find several gems you wouldn’t find elsewhere – perfect for looking for that much needed special present if you are away for someone’s birthday or a nice souvenir for coming back home!

Eating – an essential part of the weekend

The Botanist is located in the centre and offers a floral themed restaurant with a friendly atmosphere, however, if a pub is suited more to your taste, there are several around. These include The Coach House who offers a traditional experience and country cooking. Although if you want to spice things up a bit then try eating in a church! The restaurant overlooks the unique looking bar, allowing you to easily get a glimpse of what’s to come later on.

Also, there is an ice-cream farm – the tastiest part of Chester. There’s more than ice-cream available, including a café and gift shop, also entertainment such as quad bikes and mini golf are all part of the fun if ice-cream doesn’t appeal to everyone.

Scare factor

Ghost tours can be found in Chester if you love being scared. These are scheduled at night-time and Chester is apparently one of the most haunted cities in Britain – no need for a scary movie!

Drinking

Several cocktail bars are available – every girl’s night needs a cocktail in sight! Try a classic such as sex on the beach or be adventurous with Gin Ricky’s handcrafted cocktails!

Cheap Chester

Finally, don’t worry if you’re on a budget. You can still have plenty of fun exploring, visiting the beautiful cathedral, watching the town crier, using a pedalo to create your own boat tour and lastly a bit of fun for those still a child a heart … Grosvenor Park. You can even visit its miniature railway or the open air theatre if your budget will allow it!
