Nottingham is one of many northern UK cities which has been historically renowned for its vibrant music scene, with plenty of heightened venues that have held epic performances over recent years.

London Grammar are the latest Nottingham-formed band to burst onto the scene, labelling the city on the map of headline-producing British bands.

If you’re visiting Nottingham for a gig in the near future, or looking for a ticket to catch your favourite artists’ show in and around the city, we have got you covered with the top three music venues to look out for…

Capital FM Arena

Located within the Bolero Square in the Lace Market area of Nottingham, the Capital FM Arena stages some of the biggest performances in the Midlands when not being used for sporting events, comedy acts and family shows.

With a capacity of 10,000, the venue includes both seated and standing ticket options to suit all ages. Often packed to the rafters, the atmosphere at the Capital FM Arena is unlike any other in the city in terms of stature of sound.

The arena has been witnessed performances from sell-out global acts including Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Ed Sheeran since its re-brand in 2011, and continues to offer huge shows for the pop fan – with Bastille another big name to open their tour dates to their Nottingham fan base in November 2016.

Rock City

Stepping away from popular chart music, the city’s largest independent stage for up-and-coming artists and bands Rock City is a popular destination with the indie-lover.

Nestled in Talbot Street, the atmosphere is still somewhat as secluded even after thirty years of successful events – including the title of venue of the year for ten consecutive years in Kerrang magazine.

Two Door Cinema Club, Bastille and Foals have all graced the stage at the venue which plays host to 2450 fans on most concert nights. Jake Bugg, a Nottingham native, recently sold out the venue within three days for his latest UK tour.

Rock City has also build a solid reputation with the University of Nottingham, dedicated its Wednesday event to CRISIS, a student exclusive night which is filled with drinks deals and indie anthems.

Stealth

Whether you prefer dance, house or UK garage music, Stealth nightclub is one of Nottingham’s top music venues that pays homage to the genres.

Opened in 2004, Stealth’s impressive sound system and continuously star-studded guest list led to the title of ‘Best Club in the Midlands’ soon after it opened its doors.

With previous acts from Annie Mac to Disclosure, and fellow DJ’s Jamie XX and MK, it is becoming an ever-growing nightlife attraction to dance-lovers across the country.

Popular house and garage artist DJ EZ, who is set to appear at some of the UK’s most expansive festivals this summer, recently hosted a guest night at Rock City on behalf of Stealth – proving its status on the music scene in Nottingham.
