As we’re into April now and as you know there are a couple of long weekends to deal with and the Easter Holidays, I thought today I’d take a look at what’s going on in Yorkshire throughout April. We have three Roomzzz hotels in Leeds and as the hub of the county what better place to position yourself for exploring?
David Hockney: Bigger Trees Near Warter at York Art Gallery – 10th Feb – 22nd June - on loan from Tate, is the largest painting the artist has ever produced. This is your chance to see it as it is the first time the painting has been seen in Britain outside of London.
The Railway Children Weekend 30th April – 2nd May – the steep gradient up the Worth Valley from the Keighley terminus has been a challenge for locomotives ever since the line opened on 15th April 1867. The sound of a steam engine tackling this climb echoes from the steep sides of the valley, while great clouds of steam and smoke add drama to the scene.
Dales Festival of Food & Drink 30th April – 2nd May – If you enjoy food, drink and are looking for a place to go on a bank holiday week end, you need to head for Leyburn in Wensleydale. The three day Dales Festival of Food and Drink is a feast of gastronomic delights with a distinctly local flavour.
Harrogate Spring Flower Show 4th – 17th April – over 90 of the UK’s leading horticultural nuseries, fruit and veg, floristry, crafts and gifts, cookery and food marquee and garden sundries. All on display at the Great Yorkshire Show Ground.
